Message by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Census Day
May 11, 2021
Hello, everyone. And happy Census Day!
Canada’s Census is an important questionnaire that will help Statistics Canada gather the information we need to build programs that work best for you and your family.
It will help us make sure that parents are receiving their Canada Child Benefit cheques, seniors are getting their Old Age Security payments, and it will help us make sure that every Canadian is counted.
And as we continue to respond to the social and economic impacts of COVID-19, it is more important than ever that we pursue data-driven solutions.
The 2021 Census data will help us continue to adapt to the pandemic’s current and lasting impacts. It will play a key role in helping us make sure that what we are doing as a government meets your needs.
We’re committed to finding real solutions to the real problems of today and tomorrow. And we will continue to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to keep you safe, healthy, and supported.
To build programs that will help all Canadians get ahead – we need your help. So if you haven’t already, fill out your Census, and let’s build a better future together.
